Welcome back to our speaker series for the First Annual Conference on Advancements in Animal-Free Research and Translational Medicine.
Next up: We are beyond happy to announce our next speaker, Anita Wagner! Anita is a researcher at the Technical University of Munich at Weihenstephan in Chair for Molecular Nutritional Medicine! Her work investigates how mitochondrial abnormalities drive obesity-related adipose tissue dysfunction and metabolic complications. Understanding adipocyte mitochondrial dysfunction and identifying activating compounds may aid in treating obesity-related disorders.
She has established a human white subcutaneous adipocyte spheroid model to characterize mitochondrial metabolism in obesity-relevant conditions and drug exposure. The developed model replicates in vivo adipocyte function and enables precise measurement of mitochondrial function under various conditions, facilitating drug screening and advancing obesity-related research all in a way without the need for animal-derived products!
