The characterization of biotinylated proteins and their interaction partners is routinely performed using enrichment with Streptavidin. On-bead digestion is becoming a preferred strategy for direct coupling to mass spectrometry. However, this can result in high-intensity streptavidin-derived peptides that can mask the identification of target proteins, affect chromatographic performance, and carry-over can result in contamination of instrumentation. MagReSyn® Streptavidin MS (for Mass Spectrometry) has been developed specifically to alleviate these concerns, by chemically modifying lysine and arginine residues to protect against digestion using LysC and/or Trypsin. The result is a reduction in over 95% of streptavidin-derived peptides while maintaining over 80% of the high binding capacity of our original product. This ensures high sensitivity for enrichment, with an improved dynamic range for the detection of lower abundance proteins.
