Advanced Extracellular Matrix solutions for cell culture and tissue engineering

Metatissue offers extracellular matrix (ECM) products sourced from metatissue, designed to provide realistic and human-like microenvironments for cell culture, tissue engineering, and disease modeling. Their ECM products are mechanically tuneable, photocrosslinkable, versatile, reproducible, and personalized to meet the diverse needs of your research.

hPCMA – Human Methacryloyl Placenta

A xeno-free, human placenta-derived ECM hydrogel for physiologically relevant 3D cell culture.

hPCMA is a methacrylated human placenta-derived biomaterial that recapitulates the native extracellular matrix environment for advanced in vitro applications. Its rich ECM composition — including Collagen types I, III, IV, and VI, Fibronectin, Laminin, Fibrinogen, Fibrillin, and more — makes it a powerful scaffold for supporting cell adhesion, growth, and proliferation in 3D.

Key Features:

  • Human protein-based, xeno-free formulation — no animal-derived serum or undefined components

  • Mechanically tunable hydrogels: stiffness can be adjusted by varying biomaterial concentration (0.7–1.3% w/v), enabling simulation of diverse tissue mechanics

  • Sterile lyophilized format with a controlled degree of methacrylation and ≤400 ng DNA/mg dry ECM

  • Photopolymerizable — rapid gelation upon UV/visible light exposure

  • Validated for long-term 3D culture: encapsulated hASCs maintain viability and proliferate for at least 7 days

Format: 100 mg lyophilized powder | Storage: 2–8°C | For research use only

hPLMA Easy – Ready-to-Use Photopolymerizable Hydrogel

A plug-and-play, xeno-free hydrogel derived from human platelet lysates — just add light.

hPLMA Easy is a bioactive, animal serum-free hydrogel platform designed to closely mimic the native extracellular environment. As a ready-to-use 15% (w/v) solution of methacrylated human platelet lysates (hPLMA) in PBS with 0.5% (w/v) LAP photoinitiator pre-incorporated, it eliminates reconstitution steps and dramatically reduces experimental variability. Exposure to light at 365–405 nm triggers rapid, reproducible polymerization into a stable hydrogel.

Key Features:

  • Xeno-free and animal serum-free — fully human-derived, ideal for translational and GMP-aligned workflows

  • Loaded with native bioactive factors including PDGF, VEGF, EPO, EGF, and HGF — key drivers of cell adhesion, proliferation, and angiogenesis

  • Soft tissue-like mechanical properties with a Young's modulus of ~15 kPa

  • Compatible with both extrusion-based (FRESH) and DLP 3D bioprinting

  • Validated 6-month shelf life at 4°C with consistent cell performance over time

  • Donor-screened raw material with full infectious disease testing panel (HBsAg, HIV, HCV, HBV, WNV, syphilis, and more)

Format: Ready-to-use liquid | Storage: 4°C, stable 6 months post-MFG | For research use only
