PELOBiotech is happy to meet you in person at the International Society for Extracellular vesicles (#ISEV 2022 Trade show) in Lyon, France on 25-29 May. ISEV´s mission is to advance EV research all over the world and connect top researchers at its annual meeting and workshops. Come and meet Dr. Peter Frost (PELOBiotech), Mrs. Diana Jung and Mr. Yongjun Park (both Xcell Therapeutics, Korea) at booth #1. See which solution we have for your project.

Are EVs affecting your research too?

In the past, Extracellular vesicles have been identified as important molecular messengers in many pathophysiological processes. The extracellular microenvironment contains a mixed amount of EVs that have been named differently based on their structure and biochemical properties. Hence, it is important to classify EVs to avoid confusion ISEV (International Society for Extracellular Vesicles) suggested classifying EVs into three different main groups

  • Exosomes
  • MVs (Shedding microvesicles)
  • Abs apoptotic (M. Cufaro et al. 2019)

Extracellular vesicles are the lipid-bound Nanoparticles which are secreted by cells and act as critical mediators of many physiological processes (L.M Doyle et al. 2019). EVs play the role of mediators of the cell to cell communication by transporting different lipids, proteins and nucleic acids to recipient cells. EVs secreted by cancer cells promote cell growth and survival which may help in progression of invasive and metastatic activity. (W. H Chang et al., 2021). There have been many types of research that show prospects of EVs as modern drug delivery vehicles and as next-generation therapeutics, though lots of critics are still existing (I. K Hermann et al., 2021). On the basis of origin and context, EVs can stimulate immune responses and help in anti-tumor responses which may show its potential as an important tool for novel anti-tumor therapies. (T. Lener et al. 2015).

EVs also play a role in viral infection. EVs have a potential for emerging clinical applications as biomarkers, direct therapeutics targets, and engineered nanocarriers. Cellular interactions mediated by membrane vesicles are important for cell growth and development, cellular proliferation, senescence, and many pathophysiological processes like progression, angiogenesis, metastasis of tumor, inflammation and immune modulation, neuroprotection and regeneration after injury, and also disease progression in central nervous system disorders. (M. Cufaro et al. 2019)

Find out how specific media & tools can optimize your project, PELOBiotech is happy to discuss your best choice - at ISEV or where ever you like.
