This is well known and it is more than accepted if the goal is the estimation of an in-vitro model to mimic a tumor environment. The lack of crosstalk between tissues as well as the static cell culture conditions are limitations in the correlation between the standard 2D in-vitro model and the scenario that we desire to reproduce.
